BLAIRGOWRIE ENTRY FORM IS NOW AVAILABLE

The Entry Form for Blairgowrie is now available on the SVLGA website.   —

West Vets members who are interested in applying are asked to print off a copy of the form and send the completed form along with a cheque for £124 per couple to:
Sandra Macdougall, SVLGA West Division Secretary, 41 Octavia Terrace, Greenock. PA16 7SR. --- CHEQUE MADE PAYABLE TO SVLGA WEST

Please note that a lot of ladies usually give their preferred tee times as between 10 and 12.  It is not possible to fit everyone into those times, so it would be helpful if  ladies could  vary the times chosen – the early times (from 8am) and the later times are particularly difficult to allocate.

Play will again be in threes on the Monday (Patrick Rosebowl) and ladies will most probably not be playing with their partners.

On the Tuesday, however, they will play in the Greensomes with their partner, and with a couple from another Division.

The entry fee is £62 per person (comprising £55 green fee (comprising £55 green fee and £7 for admin, prizes.) or £124 per couple.

As there are more applicants than places, the Committee will hold an open ballot on 3rd April after the Spring Meeting - and all applicants will be notified of the result.
The West Division has currently been allocated 11 places (22 people) - but we may also received some extra places if other Divisions do not use their full allocation. --

Message from  SVLGA President Gillian Kirkwood relating to last Monday's competition.

As some of you will know, the Patrick Rosebowl over Rosemount on Monday 21st September was played in very adverse conditions, with torrential rain in the middle of the day causing the course to be closed and play to be suspended.

This decision was made by the greenkeeper, as the sixth hole was completely surrounded by casual water. Unfortunately the players out on the course did not know this, and those on the course after the sixth carried on playing. We were very close to abandoning the competition altogether, and had given ourselves a deadline of 2:15 to get play started again, as players at the end of the field would not have finished in daylight if they had started any later.

At 2:15 the rain had relented, the sixth had drained and play from the first tee resumed. The delay was approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Those of us on the committee assumed that the competition would be a "Reduction Only" but when it came to calculate the CSS, there were sufficient players within their buffer zone to make the CSS 77.

According to the CONGU Rules, we could not declare the competition non-counting once it had started. Nor could we manipulate the scores to alter the CSS to be Reduction Only.

I have to apologise to the players out on the course during the deluge, who did not know that play had been suspended and carried on as best they could. Yes… we should have let you know, but klaxons, buggies and volunteers were not to hand.

The tree-lined fairways are lovely but they do hamper communication. If we could declare the competition Reduction Only we would do so in an instant.

 Yours sincerely Gillian Kirkwood'
