Scottish Seniors' Captain and Scottish Vets Captain Helen Faulds (Douglas Park)  beat Linsey Stevenson in the final of the Club Championship in Elie yesterday and managed to repeat the hatrick this year  for a second time. She is again the Champion of Bearsden, Douglas Park and Elie.
Helen was a triple Champion in 2009 and it is a fantastic achievement to do it yet again.
Past SLGA President Emma Wilson was her caddy and apart from Helen who said she played her best golf today this year she said that Emma was certainly a great help to her.
WELL DONE HELEN

WEST VETS RETAIN THE ASP TROPHY

West Vets June Irons and Anne Aitken with East Vets  Kate Johnston and Denise Mitchell
The team from West Vets travelled through to Gullane on Tuesday for the annual match for the ASP (or Friendship) Trophy. This is a foursomes, scratch match for players of handicap 10 and over.
We drove through torrential rain (just for a change) and arrived as thunder and lightning passed over us. However by the time we'd had our tea and coffee, the sky had brightened and we duly set off. Due to a breakdown in communications, the West team were one tie down before we even started as we had 4 pairs to East's 5 pairs.
The afternoon was just glorious! The sun shone, the views were magnificent and our golf wasn't too bad either.
The result came down to the last putt on the last green! June Irons bravely holed out for a par 4 after she and Anne Aitken had played the 18th like a couple of seasoned Pros. Your Vice Captain was very very proud!!!!
So the West Vets retained the trophy 3-2 and we all then sat down to a delicious supper in the Clubhouse.
Complete result (West Vets named 1st)
Marion Stewart and Annabel Kane beat Carole Ross and Maureen Woodward by 4/2
Morag Key and Anita McMillan lost to Fiona Ford and Liz Simpson by 2/1
June Irons and Anne Aitken beat Kate Johnston and Denise Mitchell by 1 hole
Sandra Gilchrist and Karen Maxwell beat Sandra Ashurst and Ros Thoresen by 6/5
5th tie conceded to East.
