West Vets Captain Helen Faulds was invited to take part in the Midlothian Centenary Celebrations by joining SLGA President Ethel Jack and LGU's Gillian Kirkwood in their tri am team on the 9th July Gillian Kirkwood, Ethel Jack and Helen Faulds

Northern Vets - Heather is the 2009 Scottish Seniors Champion

Northern Vets -- Alyth's Heather Anderson, a former Downfield player, won the Scottish senior women's close amateur match-play golf championship over the Montgomery course, Kinross today (Friday).
16th Qualifier from the Strokeplay rounds Heather continued her good form by beating West Vets Alex Glennie in this mornings 1st Semi Final and then beat former Scottish girls champion Moira Thomson (Gullane Ladies) by 5 and 3 in the final with approximately two over par figures.
Moira (pictured below) led only once in the match, with a par at the first hole, but Heather then won four of the next five holes to be two up after six. Heather took a grip on the outcome when she won four holes in a row from the ninth to improve from two up to five holes ahead.

West Vets -- Anna Telfer lost in the semi finals of the 2nd flight matchplay stages to the eventual winner ---- Kathleen Sutherland from Montrose

2nd Flight Semi Final:
Fiona de Vries (St Rule) beat Fiona Hunter (Baberton) 3 and 2
Kathleen Sutherland (Montrose) beat Anna Telfer (Milngavie) 1 hole
Final : Kathleen Sutherland beat Fiona de Vries at the 19th.

Alex Glennie loses in Semi Finals of the Scottish Seniors Matchplay Championships

Alex Glennie through to the Scottish Seniors Semi Finals


West Vets Alex Glennie and Helen Faulds met in the Quarter finals of the Scottish Seniors Championship at Kinross this afternoon. In a tight match Alex won 2 and 1 and now meets Heather Anderson in the semis tomorrow. The other West Vets that had qualified for the matchplay stages were Suzanne Cadden and Anna Telfer. Suzanne won in the morning against Sheila Cuthbertson (Peebles) but lost in the quarter Finals against Heather Anderson.
Anna lost in the morning -- however in the 2nd flight quarter finals she beat Frances Neish and now meets Kathleen Sutherland tomorrow

4 West Vets reach the Matchplay stages of the Scottish Seniors

Congratulations go to West Vets Alex Glennie, Anna Telfer, Suzanne Cadden and Helen Faulds whohave all qualified for the Match play stages of the Scottish Seniors over the Montgomerie Course at Kinross today. In exceedingly humid conditions it was terrific achievement for our West Vets Super Stars.
PIRITON
came to the fore when these horrible insects came out to put you off your putting.
However, despite the difficulties Alex Glennie won 4th Scratch in the Strokeplay event, Suzanne Cadden received the 3rd Handicap award with Anna Telfer the 1st Handicap prize
